Our commitment extends beyond testing to supporting individuals and families through informed, supported healthcare decisions.
The role
You will be jscreen's first in-house engineer. We are looking for someone to own our consumer platform end to end: the patient-facing product, and the growth engineering that brings new patients in. The platform is already built and running, so your job is to make it yours: shipping features, keeping it healthy, and turning our marketing and product data into something the whole team can rely on. It is a high-ownership role for an engineer who likes building close to the customer, while keeping privacy and compliance top-of-mind.
What you'll do
Growth and consumer product come first here:
- Own the consumer funnel. Maintain and improve the registration and order flow, checkout, and the patient portal. Instrument each step, find where people drop off, and ship the fixes.
- Build the growth data layer. Own the first-party data pipelines that feed value-based bidding and customer lifetime value back into the ad platforms and HubSpot, so paid media optimizes on real outcomes, not proxies.
- Run analytics and attribution. Keep product analytics (PostHog) and the warehouse (BigQuery, dbt) trustworthy, and build the segments and dashboards that marketing and leadership teams need
- Develop across the stack and manage the cloud infrastructure as code.
- Keep the ecosystem connected: the EHR, lab, payments, telehealth, and CRM integrations that move a patient through the journey.
- Partner with the team as the technical translator for clinical, growth, and content, and help shape where the product goes next, including AI-assisted reporting.
Throughout, you will maintain our HIPAA security baseline.
What we're looking for
- Five or more years building full-stack software, including consumer-facing (B2C) products
- GTM or growth engineering experience: you understand and have built demand funnels and know how to instrument them.
- Strong data instincts: fluent in SQL and a modern warehouse, and able to produce numbers people trust.
- Comfortable across the stack and owning cloud infrastructure.
- Experience in digital health or healthcare generally, with working knowledge of HIPAA and handling sensitive health data. Specific certifications are not required; we care about judgment and experience.
- Self-directed and comfortable being our first and, for now, only engineer, with a product owner's instinct for translating between technical realities and non-technical teams.
The stack you'll work with
The platform runs on a modern digital health stack: TypeScript end to end (NestJS, MikroORM, React with Vite), Python in the data stack, and GCP managed with Terraform and GitHub Actions. Data lives in BigQuery and dbt, product analytics in PostHog, growth tooling around HubSpot.
You do not need every one of these on day one. If you have worked with some, great; if not, strong engineers pick them up fast. We would rather hire judgment than a checklist.
Why this role
As our first in-house engineer, you own the technical direction. You step into a clean, modern platform built right from the start, not a pile of technical debt to dig out of, so your time goes to building rather than untangling. You get real ownership of a product that matters, a direct line from your work to patients screened, and room to grow the product. If you want to build close to the customer and close to the revenue, on a modern technical foundation, and at a non-profit with an incredible mission, this is a unique opportunity for you.
